La Oroya, Peru: Miners oppose new operator

Workers at the National Federation of Mining Metallurgical La Oroya, were against the proposal of the Minister of Energy and Mines Jorge Merino, to appoint a new operator that manages the operation of the Oroya, if not approving the restructuring of the mining company Doe Run.

“We disagree. With Doe Run have 85% of workers on the payroll, unlike other mining companies, where the bulk of its staff is outsourced.
