7.6 earthquake Costa RIca second largest in country’s history

Earthquake today, measuring 7.6 Mw (moment magnitude), is the second strongest in the country’s history.

The quake, whose epicenter was located five miles northeast of Samara, Nicoya, share the position with the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that was felt in San Estanislao (Carthage) on May 7, 1822.

First, the earthquake is located Limón, of April 22, 1991, which registered magnitude 7.7 Mw. This movement caused 48 deaths in Costa Rica and 79 in Panama. Read Article
