Cortés, Honduras: Destroyed Plane Thought to Carry Drugs

From lainformacion.com on August 19, 2013- A small plane that was presumably transporting drugs was destroyed after the Honduran Air Force ordered the plane to land. The plane was detected by authorities in Gracias a Dios near the Nicaraguan border, and ordered to land in the Ramal del Tigre sector of the Cortés Department in the northern part of the country. After landing, the plane was destroyed by its crew who subsequently fled the scene.  An investigation has begun to find the drugs which police believe may have been taken off of the plane before it was destroyed. Honduras is a key transit point for South American drug traffickers on the way to the United States. Read Article
