Mexico and Costa Rica Negotiate Agreement to Fight Drug Trafficking

The presidents of Mexico and Costa Rica have signed an extradition treaty as well as an official agreement to exchange information and intelligence to better combat drug trafficking, El Informador reports. The agreements were signed at the beginning of a two day state visit to Mexico by Costa Rican president Laura Chinchilla. Additionally, a cooperation agreement between the two countries was signed with the purpose of strengthening capacities for small and medium businesses. Chinchilla said that her visit came at a “complex moment” and that working together with Mexico to fight organized crime and drug trafficking is critical. Read Article
