Police in Quito have made a recent arrest in the Mariscal district which involved the sale of counterfeit U.S. bills and adulterated liquor which mimics in appearance expensive brands. There has been an influx of counterfeit $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00 denominations being sold for about half of the stated currency. Furthermore in many of the nightspots counterfeit bills are being given back to patrons for change.
