Ecuador: Pay TV has 78 percent market penetration

The average price of a basic pay-TV package in Ecuador costs EUR 20 per month, according to a market analysis by Ecuador’s Superintendency of Telecommunications (Supertel). The survey showed that pay-TV has a 78 percent market penetration, led by DirecTV with 304,686 subscribers or 36 percent of the total. TV Cable Group was second with 18 percent share and 157,349 subscribers, followed by CNT-TV with 11 percent and 92,265 subscribers. CNT-TV had the lowest average tariff per channel of USD 0.29, while DirecTV with USD 0.51 and Claro TV with USD 0.55 had the highest. Read Article
