Brazil: 61% of refugee cases in country are due to drug trafficking association

CBN.com.br reported on September 21, 2013 that according to the National Human Rights, more than 1,400 Brazilians are now living as refugees in their own country. 61% of these cases are related to drug trafficking activity and are now part of the Program to Protect Children and Adolescents at Risk of Death. Founder of the Committee on Children and Adolescents states such statistics is due to weak institutions designed to help addicts such as health services and social protection. Furthermore, he states that many drug addicts end up in debt with traffickers. Read Article
