Bucaramanga, Colombia: Palonegro International Airport, weak security system for detecting drug mules

According to the Metropolitan Police Commander, General Jose Angel Mendoza, the airport of Bucaramanga is increasingly coveted by drug trafficking networks that send to the so-called “mules” with their bodies loaded with drugs.

“As is known in the jargon of the gangs involved in drug trafficking, criminals are trying to ‘mount line’. It is not certain, but you can not disprove the theory that new Palonegro would escape route from Colombia to other countries where they want to take drugs, “says the commander of the Metropolitan Police. The military recognizes that the controls are weak, but they make use of all the resources at hand to counter the situation, since their work is not limited to the detection of mules, but must also identify terrorist activities and provide security to flights. The lack of technological infrastructure to detect passengers with drugs is the main drawback of the authorities in the place. Read Article
