Colombia and Mexico Work Together to Combat Narcotics Trafficking

The Mexican government has adopted the Colombian government’s system of battling organized crime. As leon.milenio.com reports, the two governments have been working together sharing information and technology in order to stop narcotrafficking groups who transport drugs from Colombia to the United States through Mexico. Although the Colombian government has reduced the production of cocaine by 60%, the drug still finds its way to the U.S. through networks involving Mexican cartels. Colombia has also been involved in the combat against money laundering which involves the participation of European governments to help fight against this practice connected to drug trafficking. The cocaine was seized during a surprise raid today by police and anti-narcotics prosecutors at Puerto Fenix in Mariano Roque Alonso, Paraguay.
