Yahualica, Mexico: Child Trafficking Victim Rescued

On July 30, 2013 Milenio Noticias reported the rescue of a 14-year-old trafficking victim in the municipality of Yahualica. The child had been missing from his native town of Ocosingo, Chiapas since last December, when she left to work in the state of Sonora.

According to prosecutor Francisca Ruiz Sántiz, on July 7th the victim called her father to tell him he needed to deposit three thousand pesos in the bank account of one Lucio Sánchez Hernández, in exchange for allowing the girl to return to Chiapas. The suspect was later captured in the town of Atlapexco, Hidalgo while attempting to withdraw the ransom money. Read Article
