Villahermosa, Mexico: Tzotzil Boy Presumed Trafficking Victim

On July 28, 2013 Noroeste Noticias reported the case of a Tzotzil boy recently found in Tabasco, Mexico. While it was initially believed that the boy was an orphan, the Human Rights Commission of Tabasco is now investigating the situation as a possible human trafficking and child exploitation case. The Commission is also initiating a preliminary investigation into possible abuse of authority by municipal inspectors initially involved in the case. Meanwhile, the victim is under the care of a child rescue center, accompanied by his aunt and a Tzotzil translator. Read Article
