Venezuela, majority of Venezuelans believe the security situation has worsened

Venezuelans have become much more wary, distrustful of the police, and are more likely to take justice into their own hands as a result of the rise of criminality being experienced by the country, said Wednesday the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence in annual report. The NGO noted that the number of homicides in Venezuela continues to increase and could exceed 19,000, to close the year with a rate of 60 per 100,000 inhabitants, one of the largest in the hemisphere.
