Venezuela: impact on oil exports from Amuay fire

During this year there have been several operating failures in Amuay refinery, which belongs to the Paraguaná Refining Center (CRP) in Falcón state (northwest Venezuela). However, on Saturday early morning, August 24, a major fire started in the tanks yard and it turned out to be one of the most devastating accidents ever faced by state-run oil holding Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa).

So far, the gas leak resulting in an explosion in the area of olefins has left 42 fatalities, 18 of which were Bolivarian National Guard officers, and more that 80 people injured. Read Article
