Venezuela, Chavez proposes shooting down suspected drug aircraft

President Hugo Chavez proposed the discussion today in the National Assembly a bill providing for the shooting down of aircraft suspected of drug trafficking when they ignore the order to land. The Venezuelan leader said in a televised speech that the law would aim to discourage those flights in Venezuelan territory.
Addressing deputies in a rally, Chavez said: “I do not like much, but I think we’re going to have to deal with it. I said it two years ago, the neighbors have in the shooting down of aircraft drug trafficking. ” Read Article
