At least nine killed and clashes reported as people vote for new legislative body tasked to reform constitution.

At least nine people, including an election candidate, have been killed in the past 24 hours in Venezuela as the country votes for an all-powerful new legislative body tasked with reforming the constitution.

Country’s right-wing opposition parties are boycotting Sunday’s polls, which they say is aimed at consolidating President Nicolas Maduro’s power.

The government on Sunday evening extended voting by an hour to 7pm EST (2300 GMT), citing what it described as long lines at voting centres. Read Article
