Uruguay: One out of three murder victims had criminal record

In 29% of the homicides recorded in Montevideo and Canelones the author was not a person known to the victim. This says a report by the Director of Strategic Analysis and Statistics Division of the Ministry of Interior, the sociologist Javier Donnangelo. This report was prepared by the expert in January this year when the growing number of violent deaths led to strong concerns are voiced by the opposition with the Interior Minister Eduardo Bonomi. In this study Donnangelo argues that any objective evidence being revealed in the presence of an escalation of violence.

“Murder is a type of crime that has a number of features that significantly impede their prevention through police action,” said the expert’s report. Read Article
