U.S. grants visas to 60 Cubans, reject 11 for Latin America conference San Francisco

The U.S. government announced today that it has granted visas to Cubans 60 and rejected 11 applications for travel to a conference in San Francisco (California), to be attended by Mariela Castro, daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro.

The State Department spokesman, Victoria Nuland, said the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) invited for XXX Congress next week “about a hundred” Cuban academics.

Then the U.S. Interests Office in Cuba received 77 applications for visas to travel to the congress, to be held from 23 to 26 May, Nuland said in a press conference. Read Article
