U.S. expected to reinitiate bilateral talks with Ecuador

The U.S government expects to reinitiate bilateral talks with Ecuador later this year in an attempt to improve relations between the two countries, the U.S. envoy to the South American nation said Monday.

“Ties between the two countries are evident, they are strong. We want to restart the bilateral dialogue before the end of this year and we are talking with the Ecuadorean government on that,” Adam E. Namm, the U.S. ambassador to Ecuador, said in an interview in Radio Quito.

Relations between the two countries came under strain in April 2011 as ambassadors for both countries were expelled after media reports published a cable obtained by WikiLeaks, the antisecrecy group. Read Article
