U.S. Citizen Arrested for Secretly Transporting 3,500 Cartridges of Ammunition, Mexico

•Mexican authorities have arrested U.S. citizen, Gwendolyn Marrufo Sánchez who attempted to secretly transport 3,500 cartridges of ammunition to Ciudad Juárez from El Paso, Texas.
•EFE reports that at the International Bridge “Lerdo,” military personnel were performing an inspection on a bus when they came across the culprit’s shopping cart, which was filled with clothes and canned goods, but was further inspected due to its weight.
•The ammunition rounds are of U.S., Russia, Brazilian, and Mexican origin.
•The suspect was arrested on the charge of secretly bringing in ammunitions meant for the Armed Forces into Mexico.
•The Mexican government has criticized that there are 10,000 weapons vendors along the U.S.- Mexican border from which criminal groups receive weapons and ammunitions. Read Article
