Tungurahua Volcano Ecuador still roaring, activity expected to last several weeks

antena3.com REPORTED…The Tungurahua volcano, one of the most active in Ecuador , continues to erupt a week later. The column of smoke and ash has reached 4,000 meters altitude and experts say that the activity will continue for several weeks. Although so far no evacuations have been ordered, the authorities have asked the population to maintain caution and have banned tourism in the area. Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano continues for the seventh consecutive day throwing bellowing, exhalations of gas and ashes, which have been on alert neighbors and the authorities in the area.

The Tungurahua is in the process of eruption since 1999 , and has since interspersed periods of calm with intense periods of activity, such as keeping since last Friday, when a swarm of earthquakes of tectonic vulcano type led to explosions and constant emissions ash and gases.
