Supermarket sales increase in Argentina

A report released by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) shows that supermarket sales in Argentina were 14.9% higher in June 2011 than last year, and increased a total of 26.5% in the first six months of the year, totaling about 6.5 million pesos, according to infobae.com. These changes, however, do not seem that significant when the 9.1% inflation rate is taken into account. With inflation, the total annual supermarket sales growth is only about 1.2% compared to 5.9% last year. Staff increases totaled 1.9%, or 96,594 people, in the first half of 2011. Read Article
