Suchitepéquez, Guatemala: Security Forces Dismantle Sex Trafficking Network

On July 18, 2013 Prensa Libre Noticias reported that Guatemalan authorities have arrested five alleged members of a sex trafficking network, including: Ana Rosalina Echeverría Chávez, Laura Violeta Larrave Vásquez, Shirley Lorena Sosa, Alfredo Emiliano de León and Luis Adrián Melgar Bac. They are accused of selling by catalog the sexual services of girls between the ages of 13 and 17.

Additionally, authorities arrested 6 of the sex trafficking network’s clients, including César Jesús Crisóstomo Barrientos Aguirre, a lawyer and son of a Supreme Court Justice. The other clients arrested were Carlos Antonio Castro Ciani, José Eligio Marroquín Reyes, Jorge Augusto Salazar García, Mynor David Morales Valdez and Édgar Simón Chiquirín. Read Article
