State of Maranhão, Brazil, to Invest $600 Million in Infrastructure Projects

On March 13, 2013, O Imparcial reported that in the state of Maranhão, Governor Roseana Sarney authorized a bill yesterday that liberated R$600 million to work on infrastructure projects throughout the interior of the state. The installation of these highways will benefit 17 municipalities and will pave approximately 554 kilometers’ worth of roads. Luis Fernando Silva, State Infrastructure Secretary, announced a 60-day period in which the state will present the projects to bidders, who will then bid on completing the projects. The project is estimated to connect 10% more of the state together with paved roads.  Read Article
