Sparkling Wine may not be labeled champagne in Brazil

Brazil recognized the “champagne” as a designation of origin, which will limit the use of the term ‘champagne’ for sparkling wines produced in the South American giant. France had formally applied in 2007 to register the champagne at the National Institute of Brazilian Intellectual Property (INPI). The resolution has been produced on the occasion of the visit of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff this week to Paris. Read Article
