Santiago Chile: brothel, human trafficking organization operated for nine years in upscale neighborhood

In April last year the law was reformed on “trafficking” to punish with imprisonment those who bring foreigners to the lucrative sex trade. Before this legal amendment, Chile was a paradise for pimps who risked derisory punishments and returned to the business within days of arrest. CIPER investigated a band who ran brothels in an upscale residential building The Golf-whose leaders were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, 6 – and 21 women exploited, including 11 foreign companies from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador.
