Santa Fe, Argentina: Six Individuals to Stand Trial for Human Trafficking

On August 20, 2013 Notife Noticias reported the opening of a trial for six defendants on charges of aggravated human trafficking. The defendants are accused of kidnapping a15-year-old girl and holding her captive for two weeks, during which time she was sexually assaulted. The defendants include police officer José Luis Maza, taxi driver Cristian Fabián DiStéfano, Miriam Graciela Villalba, her son Víctor Gabriel Villalba Jara and daughter Ludmila Giuliana Rulera, and Ludmila’s boyfriend Darío Ricardo Cañete. The defendants face aggravated charges of human trafficking because the victim was a minor at the time of the assault, because the assault involved a police officer and because three or more people participated.
