Santa Domingo, Ecuador: Found Methanol Contaminated Alcohol

According to ElComercio.com the Provincial Health Department in Santa Domingo has confirmed that one of the four samples sent to the National Institute of Hygiene, Izquieta Perez, in Quito, has tested positive for methanol. The provincial director says the alcohol was from Alluriquin and that officials have been notified in order to proceed with investigations. Authorities are cautioning people to drink liquor in Santa Domingo since there is no ‘Dry Law’ in place for the province. Officials say that during the government’s prohibition period, 860 liters of liquor, 10 crates of beer, and 12 people were detained. Authorities add that three sites were shut down for unauthorized alcohol sales.Read Article
