Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Police Operation Seizes R$30,000 in Drugs

On June 6, 2013, Globo reported that the civil and military police of Barra Mansa, Rio de Janeiro; through “Operation Recovering Luck”, detained five suspects accused of drug trafficking. Police were investigating the suspects since April 2013. Upon seizure, police confiscated R$30,000 of cocaine, crack, marijuana, firearms, ammunition, and cell phones. According to police, for every 25 grams of a pure drug, the drug dealer turns it into 75 grams, therefore, tripling the value of the drug from R$30,000 to possibly R$90,000. Read Article
