Puerto Deseado, Argentina: Possible Human Trafficking Case Detected

On August 14, 2013 Tiempo Sur Noticias reported a possible case involving human trafficking in Puerto Deseado, Argentina. So far not much is known concerning the case, as the complaint was made recently through an anonymous call to the Interior Ministry’s office. However, it is known that the victim is a 19-year-old female from the town of Orán in Salta. After arriving in Puerto Deseado a few months ago, she was allegedly kidnapped by an individual and forced to engage in prostitution, although this has not been officially confirmed.

At the same time, police conducted an intensive operation involving a vehicle checkpoint along Highway 281 that connects the port city with National Highway 3, although a police spokesman indicated that the vehicular inspections were routine and had no connection to the case. Read Article
