Police Seize Military-Grade Weapons and Drugs in Mato Grosso, Brazil

On April 3, 2013, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police reported that authorities seized a cache of weapons and drugs in Cuiabá, capital of the state of Mato Grosso. Among the weapons, police found a military-grade, Israeli-made rifle restricted in Brazil for use by armed forces. They also found 50 kilograms of cocaine base. The motorist attempted to flee police during the routine search, but was apprehended later. He claimed that the shipment was originally from Bolivia and headed for Rondonópolis, 210 kilometers from Cuiabá, and that he would have received R$6,200 for safe delivery.  Read Article
