Police in Sao Luis, Brazil Arrest Thirty-Five People for Drug Trafficking

Globo reported on May 9 2013, that thirty-five people were arrested by the Civil Police to counteract drug trafficking operations in Sao Luis. The operation was part of a greater mission to combat drug trafficking throughout the country. The interdiction in Sao Luis was due to the significantly increased number of homicides in the capital of Maranhao related to drug trafficking. The Civil Police confiscated mobile phones, ammunition, money, guns, and drugs. According to the Public Security Bureau of Maranhao, there have been 254 homicides so far in 2013. Read Article
