Police in Brazil Seize 3,000 Munitions Headed for Rio de Janeiro

On March 28, 2013, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police reported that it seized a shipment of over 3,000 bullets and other munitions headed for Rio de Janeiro. The seizure was made after police stopped a car on the Trans-Brazilian Highway, in the city of Ourinhos, São Paulo state. The two men operating the vehicle were arrested. In the car police found the bullets as well as one Austrian-made and one Israeli-made pistol. The suspects were taken to the police barracks in Marília, where they could face four to eight years in prison. Moments before the incident, police had also seized a large shipment of munitions in a van (license plates indicated its origin in Paraná state) coming from Paraguay.  Read Article
