Police Arrest Man on Brazilian Highway with 137 Kilograms of Marijuana

On April 30, 2013, the Brazilian Federal Highway Police reported that it arrested a man near Ourinhos, in the state of São Paulo, on the Trans-Brazilian Highway (BR-153).  Police found close to 137 kilograms of marijuana packages hidden in a false bottom in the pickup truck.  The man claimed he picked the drugs up in Toledo, in the state of Paraná, and was sent to deliver them to the city of São Paulo for resale.  He did not know the name of the contact in the capital city.  Police took him to the local judicial precinct in Ourinhos, where he could face up to 15 years in prison.  Read Article
