Peru: prosecutors open up cases of forced sterilization performed during Fujimori’s time in office

Peruvian prosecutors have reopened the case of forced sterilizations performed during the government of Alberto Fujimori (1990-2000), archived for two years. The Inter-American Commission asked the Peruvian State in October 2011 resume tax investigation following the complaint of 2,074 women who did not give informed consent or to whom food aid and social conditioned to accept change then called “voluntary sterilization”.
