Panama, Petroterminal project in Melones island criticized

Plans for the installation of a Petroterminal in Melones Island, Panama received much criticism due to its threat to the environment reported La Estrella. The development of the terminal is near both a potential touristic area and a protected area a fact that Oilwatch, an organization against oil exploration in Mesoamerica, uses to fight against its installation. Burkell Holding Company Inc. made no statement besides having plans to build other Petroterminals in the district. Read article.
