Otavalo, Ecuador: 10,000 Tourists Arrive in July

According to ElNorte.ec tourism in Otavalo has increase significantly in the month of July, where authorities say about 10,000 tourists have made their way to the Plaza de Ponchos and other popular tourist sites in Otavalo. Officials say in previous years the tourist season picked up in August, but this year July seems to have an increased amount of domestic and foreign tourism. UNAIMCO officials say Otavalo is the third most popular tourist destination in Ecuador. However, officials say tourists usually visit Otavalo as a day trip. Nonetheless, vendors in Otavalo are very satisfied with their sales in the month of July. On Sucre Street in Otavalo tourists can find merchants from all over South American including Peru, Colombia and Bolivia.Read Article
