Natal, Brazil: “Operation Alma Doente” Combats Drug Trafficking Organization

tribunadonorte.com.br reported on May 28, 2013 that the Specialized Police in Narcotics released results of “Operation Alma Doente” (Sick Soul), which was intended to combat a drug trafficking organization in Natal and other areas in the state, Rio Grande do Norte. The organization has high active involvement in the drug trade in the state as well as a hierarchical pyramid of leadership and division of tasks. Arrested suspects have been charged with corruption of minors, drug trafficking, and association with drug trafficking. Since its initiation in January, 23 people were detained, over 50 pounds of drugs at a value of R$110,000 as well as vehicles and firearms, were confiscated. Read Article
