Murder of mayor culminates week of severe violence in Mexico

Edgar Morales Perez, mayor-elect of Matehuala , municipality of San Luis Potosi State (North), has been murdered on Sunday morning with Juan Francisco Hernandez Colunga, who was the coordinator of his election campaign last July 1 . With the assassination of the mayor and his assistant, members of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), closes a week in several states of Mexico reported serious violence.

Prosecutors in San Luis Potosi reported that just after 2.00 am on Matehuala emergency services received a call in which two people were reported injured. In the scene, authorities identified the victims and found 223 caps and 7.62 caliber weapons. Politicians had attended a family party. Read Article
