Minas Gerais, Brazil: Police Remove Prostitution Ring and Arrest Gang Leaders

On September 6, 2013 Globo reported that the civil police removed a prostitution ring operating in Belo Horizonte and Minas Gerais. The police detained a couple accused of leading the ring, as well as confiscating two luxury cars, and more than 300 cell phones. Police received calls from the seized phones about potential customers receiving such services. 50 women were part of the prostitution ring. The operation, “Operation World Cup II” is in reference to the upcoming World Cup’s initiative to take action against sexual exploitation. Read Article
