Mexico: U.S. citizen being wrongfully imprisoned according to family

katu.com reported a local father has been wrongfully imprisoned in Mexico, according to his brother, who spoke exclusively with KATU’s On Your Side Investigators Tuesday. Derek Bachmann said his brother, Troy, has been behind bars for nearly four months in horrible conditions. Derek told KATU he’s been able to talk with Troy by phone for just a few minutes a week, and that he’s currently sharing a 5- by 10-foot prison cell with seven other inmates. “You don’t really appreciate somebody until they’re gone,” said Derek, choking up. “I’ve been just a mess.” Derek said Troy, a father of two, including an 8-month-old, has been incarcerated in Tepic, Mexico since May – far from his hometown of Brightwood near Mount Hood. “He loves Mexico,” said Derek. “He absolutely loves their traditions, their family.
