Mexico: Basic Basket of Goods Inflation Rate Surges 5.10 percent annual rate

jornada.unam.mx reported…Mexico, DF.In October, inflation returned to exceed the goal of between 3 and 4 percent set by the Bank of Mexico to settle at 4.30 percent registered in the same month of last year. Monthly rate, i.e. compared with September of this year, inflation was 0.55 per cent. In both cases the inflation exceeded the corresponding to October 2013, which had an annual rate of 3.36 and 0.48 in the monthly, reported Friday the National Institute of statistics and geography (Inegi).

In addition, the basic basket prices surged 5.10 percent at annual rate, and 1.25 percent monthly rate, in both cases it’s figures exceeding general inflation registered across the country.

Last month there were increases in the goods and services of 11 of the 12 headings which analyzes the Inegi to develop the national index of prices to the consumer (INPC), ranging from food, transport and housing with services of water, electricity and fuels up to education, recreation and culture or restaurants and hotels.
