Mexicali Mexico: Cannon on pickup seized, used to launch drugs into the U.S.

Police in Mexicali on February 22, 2013 seized a “cannon gun” used by drug traffickers to “shoot” packages of drugs into the United States.

The cannon was activated by a compressor and air tank attached to the tube to initiate the launch.

Marco Antonio Carrillo, director of Public Safety Mexicali, capital of Baja California, said the device consisted of a compressor with air tank adapted to that way of a tube cannon to launch the packages on the border.

The cannon was mounted in the cargo bed of a pickup truck with California plates from the United States.

The cannon device had capabilities of launching packets of cocaine with about two kilos.

The gun could fire at about a distance of 400 meters into the United States.

Police found the truck abandoned in a neighborhood, no arrests. Read Article
