Lima City Council Assesses Street Vending Situation

ElComercio.pe reports after six months of Lima Mayor Susana Villaran and her administration, an assessment of transportation, urban development, and security in Lima is needed in order to create balance in a city where there is little. Officials say that the city has a serious problem with street venders who block Lima’s busy streets. Luis Rojas, manager of Business Development in Lima has been creating databases of the merchants in Cercado since he says that before his project the government had no record of merchant’s names and which ones were authorized to sell products. Officials are concerned about food vending since many of the street vendors serve unhealthy and disease-ridden foods.Read Article
