Jujuy, Argentina: 13 Year Old Sex Trafficking Victim Rescued

On July 18, 2013 La Voz Ciudadanos Noticias reported the rescue of a 13-year-old girl who had been kidnapped by a trafficking network in Jujuy. The victim had been abducted in the city of La Merced this past March along with her older sister, who managed to escape from her captors. Following her escape, the older sister reported to authorities that they had been victims of sexual assault.

Following the rescue, the girl was taken to the Guillermo C. Paterson Hospital, where she was treated for burns and bruises on her face. The president of the NGO Coordinated Action Against Trafficking (ACCT), Celeste Perosino, warned that many of the kidnapped victims are between 12 and 16 years old. Read Article
