On January 6, 2013, Diário Catarinense reported that a journalist from Curitiba, Paraná, fled the country after suffering threats from unknown sources.  The threats were received after Mauri König published an article in Curitiba’s Gazeta do Povo criticizing the use of public vehicles by local police commissioners.  Earlier this year he created a series of reports criticizing the police for use of public vehicles to visit brothels.  Several days before Christmas, he received threats that he and his family would be gunned down if he continued his work.  He conducts an interview later in the article with RBS, declaring that he would not cave to the threats.  Read Article
