IACHR recommends Ecuador insure safety for the Crudo Ecuador account user on Facebook

In a statement released Wednesday, the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) expressed concern about the threats he received an Ecuadorian citizen identified through digital user “Crude Ecuador”, after there were accusations by senior government officials.

This account was reporting satire and criticism through social networks Facebook and Twitter, but after receiving threats that said decided to close its actions on the internet.

” The Special Rapporteur urges the State of Ecuador to consider the possible consequences of stigmatizing statements by government officials in the lives and safety of people and act urgently to ensure user safety behind the account “Crude Ecuador,” said the statement. Read Article
