Gay Brazilian Federal Deputy Faces Death Threats

On April 9, 2013, A Tarde reported that Jean Wyllys, federal deputy from Bahia and member of the Socialism and Freedom Party (PSOL), has requested police protection after receiving death threats. The death threats are linked to Mr. Wyllys’ homosexuality and support for gay rights in Brazil. Mr. Wyllys is a former winner of Big Brother Brasil, winning fifty million votes on the program. The threats date back to November, but they continue to this day. Police have already identified two suspects who made threats over the internet.  Read Article
