Vistazo.com reported – Quito-Ecuador authorities declared emergency in the Galapagos Islands the presence, on the island of San Cristobal, a stranded vessel that “could result in environmental damage and an alteration to the fragile ecosystem”, said today the Galapagos special regime governing Council.

Galapaface I, the Ecuadorian flag vessel, ran aground last Friday in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, capital of the island, and although it has evacuated the fuel and oil that housed most of its cargo, consisting of varied products, “is still the risk that the ship capsized, so it must be removed immediately”, said a statement from the provincial Council.
