Galapagos Islands: Ecuadorian authorties detain ship with 30 sharks, arrest 14

The Ecuadorian authorities have detained a ship with 30 sharks aboard Marine Reserve in the Galapagos Islands and arrested 14 people. The Governing Council of Galapagos said the vessel “Angelito Forever IV” used gear “not allowed”. He had set sail on August 25 Manta port in the continental coasts of Ecuador, about 1,000 kilometers of the archipelago, and was intercepted seven miles north of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Marine Reserve, an area rich natural confluence of currents. The Council reported on Twitter the information, which a spokesman confirmed to Efe Galapagos National Park.
The reservation is prohibited shark fishing. Read Article
