Ecuadorian soldier killed, two wounded during river operation on border with Colombia

The three soldiers were shot when they spotted a boat carrying fuel tanks presumably, said on Wednesday the Ministry of Defense of Ecuador. The incident occurred at 06.10 local time (11.10 GMT), when the patrol was on a river control at the intersection of the Putumayo and San Miguel. The crew spotted the boat did not obey the orders to come ashore issued by the Ecuadorian military, who proceeded to stop before reaching the border line, the military said in a statement.
